Q: When does each choir rehearse?

Chorale: During the regular school day AND every Monday night from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Cantmamus: During the regular school day AND Thursdays in the spring from 4:15-5:15 p.m.
Belle Voci Ensemble: During the regular school day AND Thursdays in the spring from 4:15-5:15 p.m.

Q: Are AFTER-SCHOOL rehearsals required?
​
YES!!! They are graded and part of the UIL mandate.
​

Q: What do I do if I cannot attend an AFTER-SCHOOL rehearsal?
​
If you have a required Bellaire function, you must DISCUSS it with the director before the rehearsal. Religios holidays are excused without penalty.
​

Q: What absences will NOT be excused?
​
Club sports or event; work.
​
​
Q: Do grades in other classes matter for choir members?
​
YES!!! Besides the obvious fact that you would like to graduate from high school, choir members cannot perform at certain UIL events, on trip, or compete in All-State if they are ineligible.

Q: What fees are required for choir?
​
General choir fee: $85
Choir polo: $25
​
​
Q: Do choir members attend fundraisers?
​
Yes. All choir students attend car washes, perform in Cabaret, and sell Singing Valentines.
​
​
Q: When is the busiest time for choir members?
​
February-April is our competition season. WARNING: Students will miss school for UIL Concert & Sightreading. All Choir absences are "field trip" absences and carry NO penalty at BHS.

Q: Do I have to attend the spring trip?
​
No... but the more who come, the merrier it will be!
​

Q: What performances are required?
​
FALL: Fall Concert, Cabaret, Winter Concert
SPRING: UIL Showcase Concert, UIL Concert & Sightreading Assesment, Pop Show.
** Chorale and Madrigal have extra performances...see the choir calendar.

Q: Are there uniform requirements?
​
Yes. All students are issued a formal choir uniform for concerts. Students must provide their own shoes. Students who wear tuxes must provide their own white dress shirt. See the "Uniform" page on this website for more info.
